The Oakey Dokey Enterprise Scheme is a great opportunity for students to take part in running a small manufacturing business. This commercial/industrial venture involves students in manufacturing and selling garden ornaments. It encourages a sense of belonging, ownership and responsibility for the budding student entrepreneur. The project is managed by a group students supported by two members of staff.

Students are encouraged to participate in the venture and given ownership of the products manufactured. This includes quality assurance, marketing and the selling of the products, with the aim of  enhancing student's employability skills.

This truly partnership approach, recognises student's efforts by  awarding Enterprise Reward Points as a share of the proceeds from the project. These will be awarded for work undertaken in making, marketing and selling the products. Students will keep a log of their participation in any of the three areas.

Through the Enterprise Scheme students will learn how organisations work through looking at business functions and roles within organisations, learners will be able to:Image

• Understand typical business functions

• Understand the role of culture, values and goals in organisations

• Recognise business processes and how technology supports them

• How to set up and run a simulated mini-enterprise
