Students come from all areas of the United Kingdom and attend either on a 38 week (term time) or a 52 week (extended placement) basis.
- Informal visits are welcomed and can be arranged by contacting the College Administration Office .
- When a prospective student wishes to explore the potential of a place at Oakwood Court they are invited to visit for a short initial assessment for up to four days. During this visit they will experience the life of the College and staff will work with them to assess their potential vocational, independence, care and support needs. There is normally no charge for this service.
On entry to Oakwood Court further ongoing assessments will take place to ensure that the tailor made programme truly meets the need of each student. Where necessary, staff will refer to consultants to ensure that the intended programme is appropriate.
- We welcome referrals from Connexions Officers, Local Authorities or Social Service Departments where applications for Learning and Skills Council funding are made by the student’s local authority. Whilst placements at the College are normally for two years, there is the potential for a third year dependent upon individual needs.
